Fur Covered Wisdom® was created by Gila Kurtz, co-founder of Dog is Good and a lifelong believer in the quiet, transformative wisdom of dogs.

For more than 15 years, Gila and her husband Jon have built Dog is Good around a simple and profound belief: Dog makes us better. Better humans, better neighbors, better versions of ourselves.

But behind the brand, something more personal was unfolding.

Eight years ago, in moments shaped by grief, love, and healing, Gila began writing short reflections from the perspective of a dog. These messages were never meant to be a product. They were a practice, a way of listening to what dogs seem to know instinctively: how to slow down, breathe deeper, choose joy, and stay present with what matters most.

Week after week, these messages were shared freely. And quietly, they began to change lives.

Those reflections became Fur Covered Wisdom.
